If all of this is for your personal use and you are coming in as a tourist, you should have no problems at all. There is no limit on the amount of personal items that you can bring in. There is a limit of U$S 10,000 in currency, but nothing else.

I'm flying into EZE on Tuesday morning for the first time ever and just wanted to send thanks for posting this information. I'll admit, I like my shoe string travel and don't like this $140 fee business. It doesn't put a huge dent in my travel plans, but I feel I could have spent that money in country on something much better (food, drinks, souvenirs, etc.) Anyhow, I guess I'll just pay my fee and continue on my merry little way. The ten year thing is cool and makes me want to plan again for the second trip into Arg so that I can get some bang out of my bucks.

Cheers,

Ok...so if you enter Argetina via land or go to a different airport you aren't charged the fee? What about when you have to re-enter the country...are you charged it then? I have no problem paying the fee (though it reminds me of the saying "an eye for an eye and we all go blind") simply because I've heard the horror stories that my international friends go through to make it to the states (my one Ecuadorian friend was confused as a terrorist because he has a beard. absurd and ridiculous!). BUT, I'm on a college grad's budget and would like to see more of South America than just Argentina....so I'm hoping there is a good way to circumvent this.

Very true. I know several Argentines who applied and had their visas denied. They are out that money.

I think it is very important to mention in any posting of this type that the term "reciprocal fee" is something of a misnomer.

Argentinos are charged not for a visa, but for the privilege of applying for one. Many people are refused, and their money is gone forever.
