This is a tough question. As a foreigner, you will only be able to sign a temporary lease (6 months) and if you need a furnished apartment those will cost more. I would guess a one bedroom in Belgrano would be at least U$S 900. As a student, I would check with the university and see what housing options they have. It may be a better way to go.

Hey Dave, this was a pretty interesting blog, I live in Venezuela and am actually making plans to move to BA's to study at the universidad de Belgrano, I would like to know what are the price range for a one room apartment in belgrano? in US $? Thank you very much!

Yeah, I just started to discover all the goodies there. I saw the peanut butter and hot sauces, plus the pre-made sushi too! Ordering the fish looks a little intimidating, but I'll have to figure it out…

I live in Chinatown and it's amazing the things available in the supermarket that you can't find in the normal Argentine ones (maybe in Jumbo but completely overly priced and not necessarily fresh).
To name a few, there's peanut butter, organic eggs and veggies, plantains, papaya, fresh salmon, among other fish (they'll cut the whole salmon right in front of you), whole grain bread.
