Now may be the best time to book your tickets as American Airlines is currently having an airfare sale on flights from the U.S. to South America. We found non-stop roundtrip flights from NYC (JFK) to Buenos Aires (EZE) in June for $668. (Unfortunately, flights from EZE to JFK are around $800 roundtrip, which is still pretty low, but not as good of a deal.)
To take advantage of these savings, you need to purchase your flights to South America no later than February 6. Then, fly out through June 27, and return by June 30. To get the best American Airlines discount airfare, travel on off-peak days (Monday through Thursday) and stay for a minimum of three-days or one Saturday night.
HINT: Try using Kayak.com as well since we found some deals on LAN airlines with 1 stop for $543 roundtrip. These are some of the best prices we’ve seen in awhile.

I think you probably mean return by July 30th, not June 30th, right?

No, it was June 30. A bit confusing, but you can fly from the US any day before June 27, but you have to return before June 30 according to their sale info.

I’ve been following your blog heaps – it’s great
I’ve set up my own (it’s pretty blank so far..) but hope to get some interesting stuff on there as I hoon around the Americas of the South..
I wondered after reading your post, whether you had seen any decently priced flights to mexico? I’ve been looking and finding it hard to see which airlines actually fly out of Buenos Aires/Santiago – letalone have decent fares.

I haven’t seen much for those flights, but I wuld check out http://www.kayak.com and http://www.vayama.com. Vayama seems especially good for international flights.

Mexicana has some real cheap airfares as well from Colorado and other places in the US.
