The 30 Mbps has been much better for me. I have some occasional issues when downloading at the same time, but it is better.

Dave,
I checked with Fibertel and I am upgrading the connection to 30 Mbps. I hope that will work for Vonage. The 6 Mbps worked fine except there were occasions when the the receiver could not pick up anything what I was saying. I will follow your suggestion to move my Vonage router in front of my wirelss router as well. Thanks!

Vonage worked good with my 6 Mbps line. The only time I had problems was when I was downloading something else and as soon as I stopped that it worked perfectly. I did move my Vonage router in front of my wireless router, which also helped.

I now have Fibertel Evolution which is 30 Mbps. I can download and use Vonage at the same time with no problem.

Great blog. I was in BA last month and faced similar issues using Vonage. Dave, where u able make calls finally through Vonage? I even increased the speed to 6 mb and it didn't help. I will be there again next month and hence would like to know if u found a solution. Thanks!

Actually Fibertel increased their lower rate from 3 Mbps to 6Mbps and it has made a huge difference! If you rent a place, make sure they upgrade to this speed for you.

hey great blog! I'm happy to find it and this is great information for me as I'm headed down soon and will also be working remotely.

Looks like many of your issues are on the wireless side as opposed to the broadband / internet provider side. Have you considered running a wired connection to see how your performance improves?

Thanks for the compliments and welcome to Buenos Aires (soon).

There is not huge range of providers here. Your options pretty much are:

Fibertel ( http://www.fibertel.com.ar ) - cable Internet
Arnet ( http://www.arnet.com.ar ) - DSL Internet
Telefonica ( http://www.telefonica.com.ar ) - never used them

You can also get high speed networking cards from the mobile phone providers (Movistar, Personal, and Claro).
