A few updates on Palermo gyms, because this post is so old.

There are many small, cheap gimnasios everywhere in Palermo if you just need to lift some weights. I also wanted a pool and yoga classes and only a one month membership.

- Narziso is now called Aires Up and it costs 300 Pesos. The pool is in another area of the city.

- Megatlon have different styles of clubs and the prices vary a lot. In Villa Crespo it is 440 pesos/month including a big outdoor pool, in Almagro it's 735 Pesos(!) for one month subscription. 3 months is almost half the price! They don't negotiate. And they are not very friendly in Almagro either and there is nothing fancy about this club, just the pool is nice, so try to avoid them.

- Superclub seems to be a very good alternative to Megatlon in Almagro they also have a big pool and many classes and it's 440 pesos for one month.

- Magic Center do additionally offer tennis courts and a pool (but that one is only for kids).

- Wellclub was 540 Pesos per month including indoor pool, but it was full of kids.

I have been in Buenos Aires since March and am interested in joining a gym. I went to Always Club today and was told that I need to bring my own doctor's note to join. Do you think things have changed since you joined last year or did something get lost in translation. Any advice would be much appreciated!

The one thing I've noticed here is that Argentine businesses do not seem to be big on discounts or referral fees. I have a friend who brought 60 people to a bar on a Friday night and the owner did not even give him free drinks or food.

I signed up with sportsclub today for one month.. they didn't ask for any medical exams at all.. Haven't been working out yet tho, so maybe they'll ask me then.. Does anybody know if the gyms are open tomorrow?

signed up with sportclub, but they didnt provide anything but a address to a hospital, 8 blocks away, that would do it. kind of a pain. nice gym though, little cheaper than megatlon, little more than always
