Beth, I'm a salmon fan so I'm not sure if there's a lot of tuna varieties, but Sensei Sama (Thames 1516) is worth trying: small, intimate, and the service is great. http://www.sushisensei.com.ar.

Good luck finding fresh tuna. It is a rare treat in Buenos Aires. I found it at the restaurant at the Japanese Gardens once.

I still say Osaka is the best in Buenos Aires. They even have a decent spicy roll, but of course, they are relative expensive and you need a reservation.

Tried Itamae Sushi the other night, the rice was really sweet, do any of these places make spicy rolls and rolls with more traditional tasting rice? Also did notice few tuna rolls and mostly cream cheese, any suggestions on places that have more tuna would be very appreciated!

Sensei sushi is WONDERFUL! The service is great, the food delicious (tasty and fresh!) and if you get a membership in Club La Nacion (the newspeper, you can subscribe to a magazine for under 10 pesos a month) you get 40% OFF on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (I ate for 160 pesos and paid 76 pesos - a bit over 20 dollars). I personally loved it! (Too bad they don't have unagi sushi, but I haven't been able to find that anywhere in Buenos Aires). Gotta try Sensei Sushi. :)

Just tried Dashi Sushi in Palermo Hollywood this week. Had a great meal and it's nice to know there's good sushi in Buenos Aires. They still make too many of their rolls with cream cheese though!

For good sushi in Buenos Aires, I recommend two places, both japaneses. One is "Okiren Sushi Bar & Restaurant" at the Centro Okinawense, Av. San Juan 2651, 1er. Piso, Capital.Tel. 4943-6927. The other restaurant I recommend is called "Sho Gun", it´s on Uriburu 280, first floor. 4942 5728. Neither one is in Palermo, so you defenetly need to go by taxi.

Just tried Osaka last night. The sushi was very good, although the rice was on the gummy side and the rolls unravelled. The tiraditos were great. Delicious.

My one complaint was the service. We got there at 8, when it supposedly opened, and, of course, we were told to come back in 15 minutes. All the waiters were just standing around inside, so I don't know what the wait was all about. Secondly, I didn't like how the hostess, who wasn't there to greet us right off the bat, informed us rather abruptly that the whole place was reserved at 9:15. We had no problem knowing we had to basically clear out for other customers, but I thought she could have said it in a better way. Besides, when we left at 8:50, there was only one other table occupied. We felt rushed the whole evening by our waiter, who wanted to take away our plates even though there was food on it. He also seemed to have a lot of problems with our request to put the sauce for one of the dishes on the side.

Other than that, Osaka has beautiful fish!
